It’s 2013! So much has happened in the pop culture world since the beginning of January in 2012, and I thought it would be fun to take a walk down memory lane. Just think, a year ago today, you didn’t know that:
Gotye (featuring Kimbra) would one day take over the airwaves, with “Somebody That I Used to Know,” appearing on every single station at the same exact time.
You wouldn’t be able to turn on the news without seeing someone doing a “Gangnam Style” parody.
Ditto with YouTube and “Call Me Maybe.”
Honey Boo Boo and her family even existed.
YOLO would become a thing.
Channing Tatum would wind up in practically every movie – and actually be funny! (Hey, I really liked 21 Jump Street).
Kim and Kanye would not only get together, but also procreate.
The biggest memes would include a gymnast who was not impressed, binders filled with women, and Angelina’s leg.
Twilight fans would blow a collective gasket when Kristen Stewart was seen with a man who was decidedly not Edward.
You still thought that:
Clint Eastwood was Dirty Harry, not a man who talks to empty chairs.
Bath salts were strictly for use in the bathtub.
50 Shades of Grey was something related to Pantone.
Lana Del Rey was a street name in Santa Barbara.
Tom and Katie, Amy and Will, and Seal and Heidi would make it.
The world would end on December 21″¦the Mayans would never lie to us!

I am jealous of my brain from a year ago that it never got those two songs stuck in it.
2012 was the year that The Avengers became my nerdy nerdy fantasy come to life. And, just so we can mix our pop culture references, it’s SHIELD Agents Gangnam Style:
(Click to move. Totally worth it.)
