Middlemarch Madness III: Nominate Even More YA Heroines

For anyone who missed yesterday’s post, here’s another opportunity to nominate YA heroines for this year’s Middlemarch Madness.

  • Hermione, McGonagall, Anne Shirley, and Scout Finch are ineligible, because they were previously in a final four.
  • Only one character per author will make it through to the bracket.
  • Be sure to label your nominations by category, in this case, either literary fiction or sci-fi/fantasy/dystopia. Thank you!

Happy nominating!

These are all YA fantasy ladies, and they’re all made of sugar and spice and everything awesome:
Alanna of Trebond, from Tamora Pierce’s Song of the Lioness
Countess Meliara from Crown & Court Duel
Ella from Ella Enchanted (the best of the Cinderella retellings)
Karou (who has another name but spoilers!) from Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (which you should read)

I’m going to nominate Julie from Capturing Verity, which I admittedly read only a week ago. However, the sheer badass cleverness of the character warrants a mention, though I know due to the relative recentness of the book, she’ll never even make the bracket. I just want other people to read the book. Nominating out of a sense of duty here.
