And how can a fictional spider (amazing though she may be) win over Karana? Karana is the ultimate survivor. She would definitely kick Katniss’ ass.
WHAT. WHAT. WHAT. Kathy H?! Kathy H?!
Thank you. I mean: urgh Katy H.
Um, that happened after I closed the votes. Claudia was ahead by 10, I made her the winner.
Votes are closed and the bracket is updated for next week!
Middlemarch Madness III
This one wasn’t overly difficult. The only ones I would be happy to see go far out of these ones is Harriet and Charlotte and to a lesser extent Katniss.
Do we keep going over the weekend or does it break until Monday?
Violet Baudelaire VS. Cimorene??
Harriet the Spy VS. Anastasia Krupnik??
You are KILLING me with these brackets.
Oof, Ann. Bad draw. Love you anyway.
WHY IS CHARLOTTE A. CAVATICA LOSING? DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO SOULS??? ARE YOUR HEARTS MADE OF STONE???
Kathy H. annoyed me to no end. And I don’t recognize a lot of others, so this was an easy round.
Beatrice is one of my favorites! (I especially love when she was played by Emma Thompson in the Kenneth Branaugh version)
YES. She’s especially one of my favorite women from Shakespeare, and even more one of my favorite of his heroines. It’s the intelligence and the not-being-defined-by-men that does it for me.
Plus, despite the whole, “will not be defined by men” thing, she’s not one-note, like so many of those characters are. She’s all, “No man definition, but dammit. I like that boy. FML.” You know. Like an actual woman. Plus, I love that whole scene at the masquerade where she’s teasing Claudio when he asks why she’s not married and she basically says, “If you’re so interested, how about YOU marry me, then?” And then he’s backed into a corner. Hilarious.
Seconded! Beatrice is awesome, and she remains awesome even when she decides to be with Benedick – which is a far cry better than, say, a lot of rom-coms!
Harriet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Goooo Daenerys!
