April 15th approaches, which is the deadline for U.S. residents to file our taxes.
U.S. Persephoneers, have you filed yet? Do you do your own taxes, or do you go through an accountant or tax service?
Non-U.S. Persephoneers, how does your country handle income taxes?

We saw our CPA last weekend. We owed the state $31 and got $13 back from the feds. I was pretty impressed with that.
We file as soon as possible and my hubby has the accountant degree so I rely on him.
I’m waiting for my refunds to be direct deposited. I woke up to a friend of mine having posted on facebook, “Don’t forget to pay your taxes this year so the government can give it to people who don’t work as hard as you!”
So being an angry liberal bee-yotch, I had to respond, “And to pay the military. And to help fund public education. And to conserve environmental spaces. And to help support the disabled. And to make sure the elderly have access to medical care. And to help those who have been laid off in this economy can feed their kids until they can get a new job. And to pay the politicians who are busily spouting this “there are so many LAZY people that you are supporting with your tax dollars,” bs while they cut the education budget and give themselves a raise.”
Never did get a response. Her and her husband’s every worldview makes me want to break things, but she’s so much fun to be drunk with. Dilemmaz.
oh THAT’s fun…. i admire your restraint….
In Ireland, my income taxes disappearedfrom my paycheck magically and I didn’t have to worry about them, unless there are special things I’d need to claim back for, like health expenses.
That said I’ve moved to a new country this year (the UK) so I’ll have to investigate to see if there’s anything in particular to do…
I always do the taxes (we’re too poor to need help with it :-), and usually have our return by this time of year. This time we’re fighting with a crooked ass former employer (well, he might just be more ignorant than crooked) so it’s looking like I’ll have to file an extension.
I file myself right now, but next year I’ll probably need help with figuring in student loan interest and some other things. But I got this year’s stuff done weeks ago.
My husband is a CPA, so I let him take care of the taxes! I think he sent them in a couple days ago.
I used to use Turbo Tax– quick and easy for a single homeowner. This past year I got married, moved and refinanced. Between the two of us, we now own 3 properties in 3 states, lived in 2 separate states, refinanced properties in 2 states and have dependents. We’re letting a CPA take care of it…..
