Lunchtime Poll

Lunchtime Poll: Comfort Music

Happy Thursday, friends!

Let’s talk about music. I find that during stressful periods of my life I tend to gravitate towards the same music over and over again, putting cds on repeat without really recognizing that I’ve done it. I call it my “comfort” music.

Right now, I’ve been switching between Elvis Costello’s My Aim is True and The Smith’s The Queen is Dead, though today I threw in a little Nirvana so I could yell-sing along to “You Know You’re Right.”

What is your go-to music, Persephoneers?

Nice Weather For Ducks by Lemon Jelly! It’s so silly that you can’t help be cheered up.

Other favourites include David Bowie (depending what I need him for), Amanda Palmer, Tom Waits, and the Beach Boys.

Bright Eyes gives me a lot of comfort. I feel like Conor Oberst’s voice is just like a big, warm comforter I can wrap around myself that makes everything feel like it’s going to be okay. Most songs work, but “At the Bottom of Everything” from I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning makes me all teary because it just gives me that feeling that everything will be alright.
