Lunchtime Poll: Favorite Soundtracks

My beloved 90s radio stations have been playing the heck out of Garbage’s “#1 Crush” lately. It’s been a long time since I listened all the way through the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack, but it’s one of my all-time favorites.

I mean, check out this track list. So many fantastic songs!

  1. “#1 Crush” – Garbage
  2. “Local God” – Everclear
  3. “Angel” – Gavin Friday
  4. “Pretty Piece Of Flesh” – One Inch Punch
  5. “Kissing You (Love Theme From Romeo And Juliet)” – Des’ree
  6. “Whatever (I Had A Dream)” – Butthole Surfers
  7. “Lovefool” – The Cardigans
  8. “Young Hearts Run Free” – Kym Mazelle
  9. “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)” – Quindon Tarver
  10. “To You I Bestow” – Mundy
  11. “Talk Show Host” – Radiohead
  12. “Little Star” – Stina Nordenstam
  13. “You And Me Song” – The Wannadies

I’m such a ’90s child. I loved the “So I Married An Axe Murderer” soundtrack so much that I broke my cassette tape . . .twice. I finally bought it on CD.

Also, in no particular order . . .Singles, Grosse Pointe Blank, High Fidelity, Clueless, Reality Bites, Empire Records, Garden State, Strictly Ballroom, Moulin Rouge, the Friends soundtrack (it had soundbites from the show between tracks).

But above all else, Pulp Fiction.

I practically wore a hole in my Garden State soundtrack. I would put it on at the store I worked at and coworkers finally had enough of the “weepy fucking nonsense,” but I love weepy gals and guys with guitars, so it played on. And the Buffy musical episode soundtrack, which stays in my car for me to rock out to regularly and to put on whenever my husband annoys me when we are in the car.

I’ve always had a special place in my heart for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack ( also Baz Luhrman) and I’m pretty excited for the Great Gatsby soundtrack.

On a related note, I have to give grudging credit to the Twilight movies for having decent soundtracks even if the movies themselves suck.
