Lunchtime Poll: Waterpark Rides

We just got home from a couple days at the waterpark. (An indoor waterpark because it’s not quite warm enough for outdoors yet. And by “not quite” I mean it was pouring and in the 50s this morning.)

My four-year-old is a total wave pool junkie, though we got her to go down a couple of the medium-sized slides as well and she had fun playing basketball in the pool when she wasn’t pretending the balls were eggs and sitting on them. I love wave pools too and like lazy rivers in theory, though in reality they’re always overcrowded and my back cramps up from inevitably sitting on the innertube at an awkward angle.

What are your favorite things to do at the waterpark? Do you go for the adrenaline rush on the giant slides and flume rides, or do you just like to hang out in the hot tub?

Hillary is a giant nerd and former Mathlete. She once read large swaths of "Why Evolution is True" and a geology book aloud to her infant daughter, in the hopes of a) instilling a love of science in her from a very young age and b) boring her to sleep. After escaping the wilds of Waco, Texas and spending the next decade in NYC, she currently lives in upstate New York, where she misses being able to get decent pizza and Chinese takeout delivered to her house. She lost on Jeopardy.

I love waterparks! Particularly for the adrenaline rush though, I’m such a roller coaster junkie and this easily goes into the water rides feel. Though, I do dislike the annoying floor pads they make you stand on in line (any clue what I mean? They’ve got little triangular holes in them and are painful to stand on for the undoubtedly long line) but it’s worth it. Sigh. I want to go to a waterpark now. Oh dear.

I hate waterparks. Hate with a passion. My wife says I get the ‘drenched cat’ face whenever I get in the pool. We went last year with my family to one in Wisconsin, and my niece dragged me to the largest slide in the whole park. I thought I was going to die. Of course, wifey loves them, which makes it complicated. =)
