Thursday Dance Party Open Thread for 5/30/13

Oh my goodness, it’s almost June. How did that happen? Where did May go?

Rather than dancing, here’s a great sing-along song, because frankly, after this eight day stretch at work, my feet are killing me!

How are your weeks going, my lovelies?

It’s been a pretty good week! I finished The Kingdom of Gods by NK Jemisin, which is the third book in a trilogy that started with The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, which I think was a book club selection here like a year ago. It was really good, I’m glad that I saw that post so long ago. Now I’m reading Tamora Pierce’s First Test and realising why people get so excited supporting Keladry in Middlemarch Madness. I set myself a ridiculous goal on goodreads to read 50 books this year (I managed it last year, but only because 6 books were comics so a lot quicker to read!) so I’m going to power through a few more in the series and get back on track.

Soon I’ll have to start studying for exams, but that can wait until the end of the week.

I’m so excited by it, and really wish I’d found them ages ago. And I didn’t know anything about Tamora Pierce going in, and only just learnt that Alanna the Lioness has her own series when she was a page. (!!!) I can’t wait to read them too. :D:D

Oh wow, I’m kind of jealous of your first read through. Kel’s series is actually the 3rd out of 5 in that world, so you have a lot of awesome coming your way! And then there’s a whole other (still similar but just different enough) world that starts with The Circle of Magic set.

Good luck with your 50 for the year! :)

Oh yes, she has 27 books out already plus some short stories in anthologies, and there’s a new book coming out in the fall and a couple more next year that cover early history of some characters whom you haven’t met yet, but they’re awesome. :D
