This Weekend Open Thread is Shuffling Off

I’m in Buffalo visiting my grandfather, and there are a few things I’ve noticed.

1. Suburbs are eerily quiet and dark when you’re used to city nights.

2. Loganberry is actually pretty disgusting, but I insist on drinking some every time I’m in town.

3. “Rush hour” here is light compared to “no traffic” in New York.

None of these things should surprise me – I grew up here, for Pete’s sake – but after eleven years gone, six of those spent in NYC, different things always strike me when I come to visit.

What are you up to this weekend?

I don’t get this. Maybe one of you lovely people can help? I was contacted by a recruiter who also contacted a friend of mine. I’m employed. My friend is not. They told him the pay was around 80k. They asked me what my pay was (I’m much lower) and when I told them I’d only think of switching if the job was 80k (cause that’s what it is) he told me it was unrealistic to expect that kind of a pay bump. Wtf…so because I’m currently employed for much less I can’t get the same amount as someone who is going from unemployed to employed? What the actual fuck is the logic there…
