Lunchtime Poll: Your Favorite Part of Fall

Ok, so it’s not officially fall for another week or so, but the trees in my backyard are already changing colors and it’s getting down into the 40s at night here, so close enough.

Is it heading back to school or sending your kids back? Or maybe you love the cooler temperatures giving you an excuse to get your flannels out of storage? (Just kidding, those never go into storage.) Apple-picking and pumpkin-flavored everything? Or are you grumpy that it’s getting cold already and wish summer could last all year long?

I’m enjoying being able to do stuff outside without sweating my ass off, though I do wish the cold would hold off a bit longer. It’s almost time for hay mazes and pumpkin picking, which are always a ton of fun. I bought an absurd amount of fall-scented soap at Bath & Body Works already, and may go back to stock up on more. And I love that the kiddo is finally in school, and that she’s (mostly) enjoying it too.

My favorite thing about fall is definitely Halloween. I’m excited this year because I just moved to a place that looks like it will have a lot of trick-or-treaters and has a screen door. So, I can chill with the door open and watch my horror movies/specials while the kiddies drop by.

I love summer, and I hate to see it end, sob. Having said that, I love sunny autumn days. Towards the end of September, we do our Annual Conker Day, where we arrange chestnuts to spell the kids’ names, then take pictures with the kids next to those. Tacky, but a nice way of keeping track of how much they grow. Also, I do love making fish bakes, which don’t work so well in summer.

I love pretty much everything about fall. I love the colors and the cool air and long walks without sweating and boots and wearing sweaters/jackets/my awesome blazer. I love bonfires and grilling in the fall because burning things smell better when mixed with the scent of dead leaves. For that matter, I love the smell of dead leaves. I love hot foods and pumpkins. I love falling asleep with a cool breeze blowing in the window. Fall is the best.

Seriously, I am SO excited it’s finally starting to be fall.

My favourite? The whole darn thing, I think. I love being able to have soups and stews cooking. To have bread in the oven and not have to worry about the kitchen over-heating horribly. I love being able to have my snow boots on and it being mildly appropriate. I think the biggest sign for us that autumn is nearly here is the odd realisation that the tattie holidays are only about three weeks away! Eek!
