Did you know there are board games besides Monopoly?
Growing up, I played the usual games: Monopoly, Sorry, Mousetrap. They were fine. Once I became an adult, I stopped, other than the odd game of Trivial Pursuit.
Then my husband took me to an actual game store. And I learned there are far more games than just Monopoly. Games based on history, games based on strategy, skill, or luck.
I’ve grown quite fond of Carcassone, where you compete with other players to build a medieval city.
What is your favorite board game?

Ooh I love Carcassone! It’s particularly great on the ipad as you don’t have to have the inevitable argument about how to calculate the farm points at the end :) I remember we had the Game of Life when I was a kid. It went on for ages and then at the end you had to go round in a circle for ages until someone landed on ‘retirement’. 10 year old me was not impressed.
My favourite party game of more recent years is Articulate. It’s sort of like charades, but with talking instead of pictures, if that makes sense. Lots of fun with a big group.
Oohh, that sounds awesome, I hate calculating the points for Carcassone.
Haven’t heard of Articulate. That sounds really cool.
I love Carcassone and Settlers of Catan. Also really enjoy Agricola.
Settlers of Catan is on my list. I kind of want to check out the Star Trek version.
When my family plays Settlers of Cataan, we play for blood and first born children. We’re all highly competitive, but that game brings out the WORST of all of us. So of course we play it every time we get together.
Hahaha, that sounds awesome.
