Lunchtime Poll

Lunchtime Poll: How Do You Celebrate Veterans Day?

Are you spending today with family and loved ones in celebration of the three-day weekend, or are you honoring those who have committed their lives for our country?

It’s only as of lately that I started to become more aware of Veterans Day. Sure, I acknowledged the recognition of veterans and current service members for their service to the U.S. military. I’ve celebrated at family gatherings, however admittedly more ecstatic about the three-day weekend than the actual holiday. But ever since my twin cousins joined the armed forces, one in the Air Force and the other in the Navy, my family now celebrates the holiday with the utmost pride.

I am proud of their accomplishments and bravery in serving our country. It’s a path that I would never consider for myself, so it’s people like them that I’m thankful for in having the strength to put their lives on the line for the rest of us.

How are you spending today? I don’t live nearby family at the moment so I unfortunately won’t be participating in the family gathering scheduled for today, but I’m planning to send a note to my cousins to let them know of my support.
