Birthday Giveaway: 10 Songs Keeping Me Sane Music Extravaganza

Happy birthday, Persephone! I have been at Persephone a little more than a year and a half now, and it has been one of the greatest things ever to happen to me. I have met some amazing people and it has allowed me to channel my love of music and lists into long diatribes about my favorite songs of the week. I have a semi-regular column I run called 10 Songs Keeping Me Sane This Week. I know people must get tired of me just constantly putting the Mountain Goats and Against Me! on every list.

Well guess what, Unicorns! If you win this giveaway, I will give up my column space and diatribes to your handpicked ten songs. There are no rules other than ten or so songs that you love and kind of a brief reason why you love them. I will then write about my thoughts on the song as well. It will be fun.

Bonus extra special gift features also include a customized Spotify playlist of 50-60 songs based on your original 10-song list. I will even hand draw cover art for your mix and name it something awesome. Because double extra bonus is three to five 45s! I will scour the crates in Seattle and hand pick some classic or not so classic 45s and surprise you with my picks.

Happy Birthday PMag!

Although I live in the PacNW, I’ve never felt the desire to play the banjo (ironically or otherwise) and I’m so glad my husband doesn’t have a beard or brew his own craft beer. However, he does love Bon Iver way too much for my comfort. I call it music chronicling the plight of the bearded white hipster and I’m way over it. My taste runs more to un-ironically listening to 80s music.

Nah. I mean I enjoy them, but there are better groups out there? I enjoy them the way you enjoy cotton candy. Not much substance and not every day but okay enough. My brother (who is a Dead Head) mocks me any time I listen to them though.

I’m more likely to do banjo covers of Kate Bush someday I think, and Irish folk- which I don’t listen to much actually, but enjoy playing? Also, Bob Dylan songs. I have a decent repertoire of Bob Dylan and a grandmother who would enjoy it.
