Weekly Anime Review

Although Mahouka has ended, I expect a season two in a few years. Argevollen is back with much quality and a new mecha. Sword Art Online hasn’t completed its arc, which was really decompressed. One new show for the fall season is Gundam: G Reconguista. It’s trippy. Next week will have more new shows.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, Ep 26

The End.

Tatsuya is a walking Nuclear Bomb. I wonder how long it’s going to take before magicians are banned. The setting had nukes banned because they caused too much damage and pollution. Tatsuya isn’t really that much better, there might not be any radioactive fallout, but that was a big hole.

Mari, Mayuimi, Leo, and Erika fought The Tiger Lu. The Chinese dude Mari already faced twice. This was quite different from the novel. Although, seeing Erika smiling while being punched like that was interesting. Also, fighting in a dress doesn’t make much sense to me, but whatever.

As for the ending, Maya, the siblings’ aunt, sure is creepy.

Argevollen, Ep 13

There is a new member in Unit 8. Funny enough, her name is Namie Portman. She finds Jamie cute and she is a mecha pilot. She knows Susumu; he is her sempai.

The episode is mostly about her and the Seiran (the new mecha for Unit 8). Sumumu also went past 70% linkage with a nice action sequence. No idea what to think of it.

New mecha, it's called the Seiran and I want one.

The new addition to the team felt somewhat weird. Well, the pacing of it is weird.

Sword Art Online II, Ep 13

Dear god, Shinkawa is super creepy and unstable. The worst mix possible. He is a creepy murderer, creepy rapist, and, well, creepy everything.

Poor Shinon, she wakes up to be greeted by that creeper, who pretty much wants to either kill her or rape her.

At least the double suicide by present grenade was awesome looking. Shinon was so happy about it.

Kirito came to the rescue right at the end. He also ended up remembering the name of Death gun.

Gundam: G no Reconguista, Ep 1/2

Ep 1

OMG, Eureka Seven meets Gundam with retro pastel colors and sound effects. This show started weird. Really weird. Also, mecha pilot trainees have cheerleaders???

People’s names are weird. The MC is called Bellri, Bell for short. He is a trainee in the Capital Guards and he is a genius mecha pilot. One main girl character is called Monday and the other is called Aida.

The “main” mecha in this was actually “stolen” by the capital Guard from some pirate lady who has gravity air (really her hair floats around all the time). It’s called the G-self. There is also a strange “autistic” lady with green air who seems to know G.

I really like the space elevator because it is a somewhat realistic representation of one.

I don't remember the last time I saw something like this in an anime...

Ep 2

A ball. Yep, there was a ball with all sorts of delegates and stuff while the MC was standing guard at the door. Seems like the Capital is pretty much the Vatican with the Pope at its head (called his Holiness) with the Director (of the Academy?) being a higher up around (and Bell’s mom). It’s somewhat Renaissance-like. Even the prison is an old prison tower that looks like a dungeon.

There was also a pirate attack and everyone acted like dumbasses. Dear god. Although, the MC facepalming into a wall was amusing. Also, the slingshot.

The MC is a bit annoying with his, “Why are you a pirate?” stuff. But Newtypes, because glowing iris are back! Seems like the G-self responds to Newtype.

Downside of the two first episodes is that I have no idea what is going on here, but it’s entertaining so I don’t mind it.
