The Cast of ‘How to Get Away with Murder’: Where You’ve Seen Them Before (Part 2)

A couple of weeks ago, I put together this post about the cast of How to Get Away with Murder and where you’ve probably seen them before. This week, let’s pick up where we left off and dig through IMDB to figure out where we’ve seen the rest of the cast (plus a couple of guest stars) before.

Billy Brown – Nate Lahey

BillyBrownFormer detective Nate Lahey, aka Annalise’s sidepiece, is played by the very fine Billy Brown. One of Brown’s recent roles — crime boss August Marks on Sons of Anarchy — is a complete contrast to Lahey. (As a huge fan of both shows, that was really strange to see!) But Brown does have a history of law enforcement roles, playing an FBI agent in The Following and a detective in Dexter. His movie roles include Star Trek and Cloverfield.

Jack Falahee – Connor WalshJackFalahee

Falahee’s acting history only goes back to 2012, so HTGAWM is likely giving him the big break he deserves. He is absolutely killing it as the slutty (no judging!) and conniving Connor Walsh. He recently appeared in the Nicolas Cage movie Rage and the ABC Family show Twisted.

Aja Naomi King – Michaela PrattAjaNaomiKing

King is also fairly new to the acting game but she’s already landed roles in a few major TV shows aside from HTGAWM. She played Cassandra in Emily Owens, M.D. and Ali in Black Box. Both shows were short-lived which, fortunately, freed up King’s schedule, allowing her to take the role of the ambitious Michaela Pratt.

Matt McGorry – Asher MillstoneMattMcGorry

Orange is the New Black is undoubtedly one of the best new shows with one of the largest fanbases. Starring in both OITNB and HTGAWM is going to keep Matt McGorry employed for quite some time. Before playing John Bennett and Asher Millstone, McGorry appeared in a few shorts for CollegeHumor.com and others.

Karla Souza – Laurel CastilloKarlaSouza

Before her appearance as a law student with secrets, Karla Souza was a successful TV actress in her native Mexico. In 2011, she appeared in the movie From Prada to Nada followed by two movies in 2013, Instructions Not Included and Nosotros los Nobles( renamed The Noble Family). .

Charlie Weber – Frank DelfinoCharlieWeber

It’s unfortunate that Frank is so unlikeable because Charlie Weber is SO hot. You may have seen him in 90210, in which he played Mark Holland, or maybe you saw him as Todd in Underemployed. But if you’re a huge Buffy fan, you’ll recognize him as Ben Wilkinson, the medical intern who served as a meatsuit for the demon known as Glory.

Marcia Gay Harden – UnknownMarciaGayHaden

The rumors have been confirmed! Marcia Gay Harden has been cast in an unnamed and undescribed role. She’ll appear as a recurring guest star in the second half of this first season. Harden is a well-known, award-winning actress with an acting history going back to the late 70s/early 80s. Although her appearances in movies like Mystic River and Pollock carry quite a bit more prestige, my favorite Harden roles have been Dana Lewis, the FBI agent who went undercover to investigate a neo-Nazi group on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and the uptight mom on the Billy Bob Thornton remake of Bad News Bears.

BONUS: Guest Stars

Alysia Reiner – D.A. Wendy Parks

Like Matt McGorry (Asher), Reiner has also appeared on Orange is the New Black. She plays (played?) Natalie “Fig” Figueroa, the embezzling Executive Assistant to the prison warden.

Lynn Whitfield – Mary Walker

Mary Walker is Michaela Pratt’s future mother-in-law…maybe. Whitfield is a star with many movie and TV roles to her credit, but Eve’s Bayou and The Josephine Baker Story (she played Baker) are among her most notable.

Jason Gedrick – Gabriel Shaw

Gedrick played the creepy cult leader that manipulated Annalise’s team and managed to escape prison. I don’t know about you, but I’ll always associate him with his role in the 1986 movie Iron Eagle.

Elizabeth Perkins – Marren Trudeau

Remember the saucy cougar whose assistant jumped out of a window after he got caught betraying her? That was Elizabeth Perkins from the Tom Hanks movie Big and the TV show Weeds.

Tamlyn Tomita – Judge Carol Morrow

Tomita’s first role as an actress was playing Kumiko, Daniel’s girlfriend in The Karate Kid, Part II. She’s been in numerous movies, TV shows, and soap operas since then.

Who did you see in an episode or two of HTGAWM that made you say, “Hey! They were in that one show!”
