Yes, as hard as it is to believe, Jon Stewart announced last night that he’s leaving The Daily Show later this year. So. Many. Feels. We’ll all miss him, of course, but can you blame him for not wanting to have to cover another election cycle? Let’s dry our tears and try to figure out what’s going to happen when he’s gone.
Option 1: He realizes he can’t actually leave it all behind, and after the ratings soar over the next few months, decides to stay after all. Not bloody likely, but we can dream.
Option 2: Stewart grooms one of his current correspondents to take over. C’mon, Jessica Williams!!
Option 3: One of the former correspondents comes back to the show. Not Colbert, obviously, and I don’t know if John Oliver would be willing to give up his sweet deal at HBO. Maybe Steve Carell? Not sure how I feel about that.
Option 4: Comedy Central brings in someone totally new. Brian Williams has nothing but free time for the foreseeable future, he loves TDS, and I’d kind of love to see him be able to really let loose on the 2016 election.
Option 5: The Daily Show simply goes off the air. The only way this wouldn’t totally suck is if The Nightly Show gets to expand to a full hour (and if Larry Wilmore immediately hires Jessica Williams).
Any other possibilities I didn’t think of? What are you rooting for?

The internet was calling for Amy Poehler this morning. It would be weekend update for 30 minutes/day, 5 days/week. And I want it. It will never happen, BUT I WANT IT.
I’m hoping that Jessica Williams gets the job. A girl can dream!
