It’s Women’s History Month! Yay! It’s also been just a week since the ending of one of the best shows in the last ten years, Parks and Recreation. Boo! I figured what better way to celebrate two of my favorite things than making a playlist for Ms. Leslie Knope?
1. “I Am Woman” by Helen Reddy
Leslie probably loves this song. Seriously, it just makes sense.
2. “Don’t Stop” by Fleetwood Mac
Leslie, first of all, loves Fleetwood Mac, enough to have pants she wore to a Fleetwood Mac concert that spawned the phrase Fleetwood Mac Sex Pants (a name Andy wants to use as a band). Second, the Clintons used this song as their campaign song for president.
3. “***Flawless” by Beyonce
Leslie loves Beyonce, she’s got to. “***Flawless” is probably always in rotation at the Wyatt-Knope household. You know she loves to say, “Bow down bitches.”
4. “Bad Reputation” by Joan Jett
Pretty much how Leslie feels about her work in the Parks department. She knows she rocks and she will keep on doing what she is doing.
5. “Like a Prayer” by Madonna
Leslie likes a bit of controversy. She probably considers herself sisters with Madge. She understands Madonna.
6. “I’ll Stand By You” by the Pretenders
Dedicated to her BFF, Ann Perkins, Leslie probably put this on every mix tape she ever made for her. I don’t blame her. It is a great song.
7. “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift
Leslie’s philosophy come to life. Haters gonna hate.
8. “Heads Will Roll” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs
April’s influence on Leslie has allowed Leslie to explore genres she might not have otherwise. Leslie loves Karen O.
9. “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel
Somehow I imagine Leslie loves this song and everything to do with Frozen. I bet her kids probably hate the movie because she makes them watch it all the time.
10. “I Want You To Want Me” by Letters to Cleo
Leslie let Ben have a song on her list because she is nice like that.
Did I make any egregious errors? Forget anything obvious? I imagine Leslie listens to a lot of different music.
