A Diwali Carol Playlist

It’s time to clean everything, go shopping, and eat until you explode. As I mentioned last year, I don’t know that much about Diwali. I do know there aren’t enough Diwali carols, or really any.

Thanks to East India Comedy, we have some suggestions.

If those didn’t give you enough of a creative starting point for some Diwali carols, I’ve managed to find some Bollywood hits (being real generous with that word) about the holiday spirit.

“Shehar Ki Pariyon” – Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992)

For those of you who love bright vests on Aamir Khan.

“Aai Ab K Saal Diwali” – Haqeeqat (1964)

For grandma, who just wants to listen to some nice old songs from her youth.

“Kaise Diwali Manaye Lala” – Paigham (1959)

For grandma, who just wants to listen to some nice old songs from her youth and laugh a lot.

“Aayee Hai Diwali” – Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya (2001)

For people who were fans of Govinda, for whatever reason.

“Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” – Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)

For people who love big blockbusters and dramatic Shah Rukh Khan entrances.

“Pairon Mein Bandhan Hai” – Mohabbatein (2000)

For everyone who has 10 minutes to spare (for this very long movie clip) and really likes dramatic Shah Rukh Khan entrances.

“Happy Diwali” – Home Delivery (2005)

For bloggers who have never heard of this movie, but are thankful for very obvious titles that appear in quick Google searches.

Happy Diwali everyone!
