Weekly Anime Review

Not as much action this week; all shows are entering the final stretch, more or less. This means more plot is revealed and things are being set up for the future.
There were a lot of explosions this week. Things blew up in Iron-Blooded Orphans, Heavy Object, and Ajin. Explosions were aborted in Active Raid; the bomb didn’t explode. ERASED had no explosion, but it was still a nice episode.
A slightly less action-oriented week for my shows — well, outside of Heavy Object, which had an action-packed arc finale. Iron-Blooded Orphans was more about setting up the new arc on Earth. Active Raid focused on Haruka, who is a lot more into trains than fighting people. ERASED tread on old grounds. Ajin had some fighting, […]
Heavy Object, Active Raid, and Iron-Blooded Orphans were full of action this week. Ajin and ERASED had setup episodes for their next arcs; both were more psychological than physical tales this week.
Plot, plot all around. We learned a bit more in Active Raid, Ajin, and ERASED. Heavy Object started a new arc with lots of new characters. Gundam moved to another part of its story and presented a whole bunch of new characters too.
Erased‘s plot is moving on; seems like we are going toward a conclusion half-way through the number of episodes the show is supposed to have. This is somewhat strange. Heavy Object had Qwenthur increase his “feats” again. Active Raid has Unit 8 not causing catastrophic damage for once. In Gundam, Kudelia made her choice and Ajin […]
ERASED and Ajin are probably my favorite shows right now. Active Raid and Heavy Object are still funny. Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans isn’t that bad, although very formulaic. Hai to Gensou no Grimgar might look very pretty, but that show is moving at turtle speed.
ERASED might be my best show of the season. The pacing is very good and the suspense well done. Heavy Object continues to do what Heavy Object does. Iron-Blooded Orphans shows that Tekkadan is family, again. Active Raid is rather fun to watch even if the whole thing doesn’t make much sense. Hai to Gensou […]
No anime review this week, because of the New Year and shift to the Winter season and me not having the time to watch anything. So I’m going to talk about what I will watch instead.
End of the season means shows are ending. Fafner Exodus season 2, Owari No Seraph season 2 and K: Return of Kings all reached their ends. Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans and Heavy Object will stay around for the winter season.
It’s almost the end of the fall season. Fafner Exodus is setting up a big fight for its finale. Heavy Object will probably just finish its current storyline. K: Return of Kings also has a big fight setup for its ending from the look of it. Owari no Seraph is more setting up the kids […]
The fall season is almost done. Just a few episode left for most shows unless they get a full season (Gundam does, yeah!). Fafner Exodus had another great episode, definitively anime of the year for me. Heavy Object added more exposition for the setting. K is getting closer to a conclusion, while Owari no Seraph […]
No Heavy Object this week. But there was more awesome Fafner and Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans this week to compensate and the Gundam did really have a fight in it. Owari no Seraph was its usual “Yu is stupid” episode; those are getting old but I doubt it’s going to change.
A few more weeks left in the fall season. Fafner is riding toward a grand finale, Owari No Seraph seems to focus on its plot more, Mobile Suit Gundam had some family themed episodes, and Heavy Object has the guys doing a mission in a cold place again.
At this point I can safely say that Fafner Exodus is my anime of the year. Even if the last four episodes are trash. I also really like the new Gundam so far. Heavy Object and Owari no Seraph are getting better as well. K: Return of Kings is stale though, but I’m over half-way through […]
