Lily Cole scares the crap out of some pirates, Matt Smith is adorable, and Johnny Depp does not make a cameo in this week’s standalone episode of Doctor Who. I’m feeling itchy just writing about it, because there is a timehead baby mystery to solve, and we’re just standing around playing swordfighting in funny hats.
It’s the summer of love in America, and the Doctor’s band of merry misfit toys is running across deserts and dams and skyscrapers. They’re running to escape the men with guns, they’re running away from the ghost of the Doctor, they’re running away from the Silence and from their own secrets.
After watching the first five minutes of “Tony” the first episode of the UK version of Skins, I thought it was horribly miscast. After watching the whole episode, I thought that it was also horribly written. I’m glad I stuck with it, though, because the second episode, “Tea,” while not stellar, had some glimpses of promise.
