Hello, fellow unicorns. I’d say “Happy Friday,” but with the way people are dying this month, it feels strange to do so. Let’s knock wood for all our favorite celebrities and take a look at other news stories from the past week.

In a stunning turn of events, I have mostly good news to share this week because I feel like we all need it. First though, let’s get the unpleasant and ridiculous out of the way.
I’ve spent a childhood longing for snow and an adulthood running from it. Until I can move to Hawaii, snow, ice, slush, and cold will be a part of my life.
As of Wednesday evening, the U.S. government shutdown ended and almost nothing was accomplished. This sigh-worthy story and more, after the jump.
