PoC News in America

This weekend, we didn’t watch Saturday Night Live because seriously, fuck that guy.
This past week saw the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the U.S. While the nation mourned, many people of color could not forget the violence and Islamophobia that emerged #afterSeptember11.
Hope you are enjoying this long wonderful, 3-day weekend if you are stateside.
Before jumping into the news around America, here’s a quick highlight of news around the world.
Did you see how glamorous and powerful your favorite actresses, filmmakers, musicians and even our First Lady were at this year’s Black Girls Rock? Let’s look at those inspirational women and then get to the news!
We have another video heavy article this week. Let’s get to it!
Friday morning, there was grumbling on my twitter timeline about the storyline of last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy. A hashtag, #ShameOnShonda, had been started in protest of what was perceived as a stigmatization of mothers with post-partum depression, or PPD.
The Superbowl has come and gone, but the hilarity of Key & Peele’s Richard Sherman & Marshawn Lynch interview sketch lives on forever.

As soon as you see that cheerleader being tossed in the air, you know what time it is. It is time to get away with murder! And even though we have a confession from someone by the end of the episode, I’m not convinced that this is the person who really is getting away with […]
This week, let’s talk about why teen girls should think about getting IUDs, why some men are weirdly excited to be called “evil,” and why no app can stop sexual assault. Also, weddings and babies! (As usual, trigger warnings for pretty much everything apply.)
Welcome to another week of How to Get Away with Murder. We need a nickname for fans of HTGAWM. You know how Scandal fans are called Gladiators? We could be…Murderers? No, that’s not right.  We can figure that out later. First, let’s figure out what’s going on with these college kids and this dead body.
Happy Friday, ladyblogland! This week we’ll talk about two new campaigns to bring feminism to the masses, a truly absurd amount of terribleness, and a math lesson from John Oliver. (As usual, trigger warnings for just about everything apply.)
