I can hear a good or not-so-good tune and it transports me back to a time and place when it became important to me. I have a knack for strong memories tied to songs.
Local punk favorites Wimps released their latest record, an EP entitled Super Me, this month available on cassette and digital download. This release spurred me creating a whole Spotify playlist featuring local bands, all of them featuring women. Seattle seems to be the hotbed of awesome music lately beyond your Death Cabs.
Seattle does not have AC in most places. This has proved tough this summer as it has topped 90 a few different times. For someone who loves 40 and cloudy, the sweltering heat slays me. Luckily, music and a cold shower can keep me going on these hot days.
Sometimes we all just need a good laugh. I fall asleep to comedy each night because somehow those funny people soothe me off into dreamland. I tend to also consume it a lot in general, so I bring you my ten favorite current comedians.
It has been a tough week. I am still dealing with the upcoming family gathering I will not be a part of. I am also weathering a shitstorm of anger from my mother over some trite happenings. Thank the maker for good tunes. It’s pretty much one of the few things keeping me going.
Summer came to Seattle like a power bomb. It topped 85 a few days ago. This makes Alyson melt. I apparently was not ready for summer, though my listening tastes have prepared me for the incoming heatwave. I apologize in advance for not including the actual song, “Heatwave.”
I fell down the rabbit hole this week and got sucked back into a time of gigapets and AOL. A time where it took us an hour to download one single scene of porn. That’s right I got sucked back into the ’90s.
Happy Wednesday, all! It’s the middle of the week, and I’m trying to get through. Here’s a playlist of songs that are helping me cope. A lot of these songs are ones that I’ve known since I was really young, so I guess that must mean something.
Happy Monday and back to work! Here are ten songs keeping me sane this week!
I have started to emerge from the doldrums of the last few months. It has been a rough patch, but I am still here. Music, of course, has still provided a great outlet for me. This year has already seen amazing releases from some great long lasting bands. I have also been introduced to some great […]
And it’s back to work on Monday after the Easter weekend! I didn’t really have a long weekend, but I sure did a lot of running around. Here are ten songs to keep me sane this week.
I can’t tell you how glad I am that it’s spring, but the weather here in Michigan just can’t seem to make up its mind. Here are some songs that are tiding me over until spring decides to officially arrive.
It’s Women’s History Month! Yay! It’s also been just a week since the ending of one of the best shows in the last ten years, Parks and Recreation. Boo! I figured what better way to celebrate two of my favorite things than making a playlist for Ms. Leslie Knope?
It is the annual American tradition of Sportsball Sunday on February 1st. My local team, the Seattle Seahawks, are up against the Evil Empire of the National Football League, the New England Patriots. Tom Brady is Darth Vader and Bill Belichick is the Emperor. Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, and the rest of the […]
The holidays are upon us, which means my work is super busy. My sanity is definitely dependent on tuning out 20 versions of “Blue Christmas” and zoning out the angry customers who are upset we don’t carry some obscure form of cookie.
