When I was younger, I resented Thanksgiving. I hated that we hosted it at our house, and I hated the people we invited; sometimes, I even hated the food.
I miss German Christmases.
I have always loved Christmas. I revel in the holiday season as a whole. I wish I could say it was for some noble, baby Jesus reason, but nope. I love all the decorations, music, and rampant consumerism.
On Saturday, my five-year-old son said to me, “I know you’re Santa.”

It’s my first OT of 2012. Where does the time go? I’ve always liked hanging out with friends on New Year’s Eve–not (usually) anything too over the top, but a fun night spent with friends looking back and looking ahead is how I like to spend the last day of any year.Â
This may make a better lunchtime poll than an OT, but it’s a flashback, so I’m sticking with it. This weekend I made five dozen sugar cookies and went to a cookie exchange.Â
Today I’m thinking about Thanksgiving food, because Thanksgiving is usually my favorite holiday AND it has all of my favorite foods. Well, usually it does.
