News in Asia

Welcome unicorns; this week will have some quick links.
We will have quick links today. I hope this holiday week is good if you celebrate; if you don’t, may the Force be with you*.
There’s more bad news than good news this week, unfortunately.
This week, we talk about the completely preventable tragedy of a hospital hit by U.S.-NATO forces, some good environmental news, girls climbing mountains and Internet protesters.
Here are some of the events and stories that have happened over the past week. [Trigger warnings for rape and violence.]
[TW: Rape] What do you do when you have no choice on how you get to work?Â
This week’s version of “News in Asia” is linky because it’s hard to write with a five-month-old in your arms (even if she is adorable). Auntie duty calls. [Trigger warning for rape and violence against trans women.]
The big news breaking as I’m writing this are the protests happening in Hong Kong.
More quick links this week!
Given the ongoing fighting in Gaza, the downing of another Malaysian Airlines flight by a surface-to-air missile and the refugee crisis that’s happening within U.S. borders, news out of Asia is kind of on the back burner, at least for news outlets in the States. Never fear, here is a round-up of news from Asia.
This week is link happy with trigger warnings for rape and violence.
Welcome to news in Asia! Let’s get going.
Welcome to another edition of news from Asia. Unfortunately, some news this week could have found a place in Hillary’s “This Week in Misogyny,” (bless you for your work Hillary). Needless to say, trigger warnings apply.
Hello, my friends. We have news to cover, including the widening investigation into that disappearing plane that has been dominating the news. I have to warn you, that pretty much all this news is not good and there are trigger warnings for self-harm and rape.Â
This latest episode is arguably the creepiest we’ve had in a while, and I think that’s largely because we knew the guilty party within the first five minutes; the rest of the episode was just a cat and mouse game.
