My kids and I have been trekking through the end-caps filled with chocolate, plastic grass and trinkets since before Valentine’s day. Each week, we review that we are not buying any candy or anything else since it’s not Easter yet.
My Netflix description says that Veronica inadvertently becomes a love detective in this episode. What Valentine’s Day-related hijinks can we expect in this episode? I don’t remember much of this episode from my first time watching this show, so I guess we’ll find out together!
True love, in the modern context, is the stuff of fairy tales and films like The Princess Bride. To many, it seems unachievable, but there is a strong movement among teens and young adults that contends that true love is common and achievable. However, a very strict path must be followed to reach that end.
So another Valentine’s Day has come and gone. It can be a lot of pressure, no? For those without Valentines, it’s kind of annoying. For those with new Valentines, it’s the gauging how you and your new love will celebrate the holiday. For Valentines who’ve been around the block a few times with each other, […]
Ah, Valentine’s Day… a day when winged babies armed with bows and arrows are flying around in the sky, maiming people at will. Romance is in the air! But what to eat? There are many foods traditionally associated with pitching woo, but sometimes you want to try something new. Something zesty…

The Mister and I have a pretty set routine. After the kids go to bed, we watch TV while he reads the internet and I do crafty crap. It’s not terribly exciting, but it’s how we decompress at the end of the day. Lately I’ve noticed that Persephone has become a regular stop on his […]

It’s probably been a decade since I first became aware that a year can change everything and nothing at all. At the beginning of the decade I began chronicling the changes and stabilities in my life around January 1. It was a habit, a reminder, a pros-and-cons list spanning 365 days of choices. In 2008, […]
Far be it from the gang at Community to miss the opportunity for a themed episode. This week, love was in the air at Greendale as the study group prepared for the Valentine’s Day dance. How many freaking dances does this school have, anyway?
Last night on Glee, it was about the same as it’s been all season, including a Katy Perry song. On the upside, the Warblers from Songworts actually got a good song to sing and it looks like Kurt and Blaine are finally going to sort of live out the romantic musical comedy both of them […]
Believe it or not, this is a very busy time of year in tattoo shops. People get their tax refund checks and go tattoo crazy, not to mention the Valentine’s Day name banners. If you are considering taking the plunge, here are a few things that should help you have a pleasant experience and end […]
Would that we were all so lucky as the fashion industry, that we could have Spring come in October. For those of us still in the midst of the Northeast winter (-11 this past weekend, y’all–NEGATIVE ELEVEN DEGREES FAHRENHEIT) there are several more months to go before we even think about breaking out the old peep […]
This is something I am seriously conflicted about. On the one hand, the idea that women will use tools if they are pretty is extremely patronizing. On the other hand, I believe all women should be able to use tools and if this makes them less intimidating then that’s a good thing.
