As a curator of pop culture, I have run across plenty of “very special” episodes. The ones where they try to bang you over the head with the lesson of the day. Most fail at this because they definitely bang you into oblivion or they are really hilariously bad.
The 1980s and ’90s were chock full of family sitcoms, from Full House to Family Matters. Each and every show had at least one “Very Special Episode,” and I lived for them.
Old refrigerators. Through a very special episode of Punky Brewster I learned that, at some point in life, I would come across an abandoned refrigerator, and I would, for some reason, be compelled to climb into that refrigerator.
