Happy weekend. Let’s talk Netflix.
Fasten your seatbelts and make sure your tray tables are in a locked and upright position. We’re taking off on an Air Force One-based adventure for this week’s The West Wing, and we get to enjoy some grade-A aeronautic set porn.
At nearly any other point in my life, in the month of June, I would be on break from school and starting one of my summer camp jobs. This summer, however, I’ve been working full time and also going to grad school. Here are some of the things I’ve learned, for the “What I Did […]
This episode opens with the lone surviving gunman being skinheady at a diner, with the news of Joshua Lyman’s injuries on the news (see Selena’s recap of 2.1 to be brought up to speed). This is one of my most favorite episodes ever, because it gives so much of the back story about the senior […]
There are a handful of The West Wing episodes that have stuck with me through the years. “Two Cathedrals,” “In Excelsis Deo,” and “In the Shadow of Two Gunmen” are the biggest ones, and probably among the favorites of most TWW fans. “Take This Sabbath Day” is a quieter episode than any of those three, […]
This episode opens with CJ holding her press briefing, with some good ribbing for Danny. This briefing brings to light one of the episode’s storylines – the invitation to Lydells, the parents of a boy who was brutally murdered for being gay. Toe Pick mentions to CJ that the parents didn’t seem to be very supportive […]
Good afternoon, Persephoneers! It’s my turn to talk about The West Wing, and this episode is a doozy. Season one of The West Wing was able to achieve a near-perfect balance between plot, character development and larger themes, and “He Shall From Time to Time” is one of the better examples of this strength.
I’m stepping in as an emergency replacement for Sandra, so no putting tacks on the sub’s chair while she’s gone. This afternoon we’re going to be discussing the seventh episode of the first season, The State Dinner. In this ep, we’ll meet one of my favorite long-term characters for the first time: Abby Bartlet.
Previously, on the West Wing, President Bartlet’s personal physician, Captain Morris Tolliver, was killed when his plane was shot down on the way to a humanitarian mission at a teaching hospital. The President is out for some old school eye-for-an-eye justice to retaliate. Also, the unfortunate Mandy has been hired to be the Director of […]
Welcome back to week two of our retro recap madness. We’re switching up the order a little, as I explained in Jordan’s 9:30 post, and today’s is delayed so I made sure to have enough time to write it with the level of attention and detail it deserves.
Forgive me for being a day late and a dollar short on my own idea, but here is the promised post on the pilot of one of the greatest television dramas of all time, Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing. The West Wing made politicians of both parties look like heroes and patriots in a time […]
We’re starting a new feature every weekday at 9:30 AM. Each day of the week, one of our writers will be rewatching a TV classic from the very beginning and writing a column about it. We put a lot of thought into which shows we’re going to revisit, and decided to start with the following […]
