Welcome to another week of news!
Popular media would have you believe that Jewish folk have cornered the market on ignoring the religious holidays towards the end of the year. However, my family and many other families took the Christ out of Christmas a long time ago (sorry right-wing pundits!) and celebrate mostly the cultural gift-exchanging and excessive eating.
Given that this space reports on news that is not so pleasant, I figured this week, in honor of how much my fellow unicorns love to drink, I’d give a brief primer on the liquors, spirits, wine and beer from a few Asian countries. Since many countries have their own distinct alcoholic beverages, I’ll do another […]
Happy Friday and Happy Halloween, everyone! If you’re celebrating the holiday today, whether at a party or with your munchkins, I hope you have a fun time. We’ve got a lot of science-y links to cap off the week, as well as the usual mixed bag of things I found interesting. Let’s get to it.
I am traveling for work, and it is THE PITS. Does anyone else long for snuggles from their pet (and/or significant other) when they are away?
It’s only Monday, and I’m sure most of us are ready for a drink. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? ….Right?

April really came out of nowhere.
Last time we talked, we discussed how to order fancy (or not-so-fancy) wine, and the proper way to send it back when it’s all wrong. Today, we’re going to talk about the etiquette of serving wine in your own home, whether it be for a tasting party, nice dinner, or Torchwood marathon day with your […]
You may have noticed that I talk about wine a lot. It’s a situation smoother, a conversation starter, and a clever agent of relaxation, among other roles. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, or you are VERY new here, I love wine. It’s rare that I don’t have a bottle sitting around. With all of […]
Toss back a few with me, will you?
