The ‘End of Year List’ List

Love them or hate them, end-of-the-year roundups are now just an essential part of December. Everything that we can rank the best of, will be ranked and then vehemently disagreed with in the comment sections.
Sometimes, all you need is to remember how hilarious old videos are. Sometimes, all you need is a cool performance by some rad rocker chicks. Sometimes, you just need to sit down and turn your brain off and let YouTube tell you what to do.
Internet videos are amazing. We all know this. I am just glad we have massive amounts of funny music videos, crazy cat videos, and weird whatever videos. The expansiveness of the Internet has allowed me to laugh and use that laughter as self-care.
For generations, we’ve illustrated ‘the American Dream’ as being a place “where anyone can grow up to be president.” But these days, one look at President Obama’s weary face & gray hair, not to mention the merciless way people can attack any public figure anonymously, is enough to scare off impressionable kids. Isn’t the Watch Later option of YouTube super convenient?
The trailer for the movie adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s Wild came out last week. Most of the Internet was blandly excited for the film, not so YouTube commenters. According to them, this movie will be awful.

Another week, another massive list of misogyny in the news. But never fear! This week there’s some misandry and penises to cheer you up. Ladies love misandry and penises! (Trigger warnings for just about everything apply.)
A few months ago, I was looking on YouTube for scalp massage tutorials, as one does, and I clicked on this one that turned out to be a very quiet person pretending to give me a massage.
Recently, the Harlem Shake took the Internet by storm. It seemed like there was a new video uploaded every 15 minutes featuring some group of people getting wild and crazy to the sounds of an electronic dance music (heretofore EDM) beat that demanded they “Do the Harlem Shake.” Many people pointed out that no one […]
